I was born on February 13th in Mobile, AL. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Alabama (Tuscaloosa, AL) and have worked in Marketing/Advertising and Communications for the past 11 years. I am currently working in Corporate Communications with Walt Disney World (Orlando, FL).
In my various work roles, I have been able to utilize my love for writing through many copywriting assignments, including nationally run radio spots, as well as billboards and print advertisements. I aspire to publish a novel and one day, believing in God’s will, I will appear on Oprah as a best-selling, award-winning author. I would like to extend the messages from my books to plays, movies and workshops for women.
My proudest accomplishment is being a wife to my husband and a mother to my 5-year old daughter. I am most interested in reading, writing and playing tennis.
My favorite scripture is Jeremiah 29:11 (KJV): “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. And my favorite book is “Their Eyes Are Watching God” by Zora Neal Hurston.
Even though I am still relatively new to WOC, the group has shown me that real sisterhood still exists and that this sisterhood still holds great power in the lives of African-American women. Through all the ups and downs of life, there’s nothing like having Godly, positive, wise women as a part of your life.
